Dr Lucy Bates

Lucy Bates is an experienced Urogynaecologist with advanced subspecialty training, and holds specialist qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She completed her Medical Degree at The Australian National University Medical School before undertaking her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in Canberra. Following this, she pursued extensive advanced training in Urogynaecology at both St George Hospital in Sydney and Robina Hospital on the Gold Coast, developing expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex pelvic floor disorders.
 
Dr Bates is passionate about helping women improve their comfort, confidence and quality of life through personalised and evidence-based care. She has a particular interest in the management of pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, urinary incontinence and vaginal mesh complications. She understands that pelvic floor conditions can have a significant impact on day-to-day life and aims to provide a supportive and respectful environment where women feel comfortable discussing sensitive concerns. Dr Bates offers both conservative and surgical management options and is committed to ensuring her patients are well informed and supported throughout their treatment journey.
 
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Bates has a strong interest in research, education and health advocacy. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Urogynaecology Society of Australasia (UGSA), reflecting her commitment to advancing women’s pelvic floor health and supporting excellence within the specialty. Her research interests include obstetric trauma and the pathogenesis of overactive bladder, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and contributing to ongoing developments in urogynaecological care.
